Jan Grigor Schubert will become Managing Director at STIHL Tirol GmbH effective January 1, 2023. He will succeed Clemens Schaller, who is set to retire at the end of his contract, effective December 31, 2022. Martin Schwarz, STIHL Executive Board Member for Manufacturing and Materials, commented: “As a long-standing Managing Director of our subsidiary ZAMA, Mr. Schubert has been able to demonstrate his extensive knowledge of production and manufacturing as well as his excellent leadership skills in an international environment. I am delighted that Mr. Schubert is joining the STIHL Tirol Management Board and that we have been able to fill this important position with an experienced manager from within our own ranks.”
Jan Grigor Schubert was born on June 10, 1966, in Gütersloh, Germany. He is married, with one child. After completing his studies in mechanical engineering at RWTH Aachen University, he started his career as a production planner at Robert Bosch GmbH in 1990. From 1996 to 2011, he worked in Germany, China, and Brazil, holding a variety of management roles at home appliance manufacturing company BSH Hausgeräte. Most recently he was a member of the Management Board of BSH China, where he was responsible for the development of refrigeration appliances at various locations. Since January 2012, Jan Grigor Schubert has been Managing Director of ZAMA, a wholly-owned STIHL subsidiary which produces carburetors, precision turned parts, and cable harnesses for motorized forestry and garden tools. “I would like to thank the Stihl family and the Executive Board for placing their trust in me,” said Jan Grigor Schubert. I am proud to have contributed to the success of ZAMA for more than ten years and to have worked with the team on the company’s global expansion and its preparations for a future without combustion engines. I would like to thank the entire ZAMA workforce for the many years of successful collaboration. I am now looking forward to a new challenge, and collaborating with colleagues at STIHL Tirol in my new adoptive home,” commented Grigor Schubert.
Since May 1, 2018, Clemens Schaller has been Managing Director at STIHL Tirol GmbH, a wholly-owned subsidiary of STIHL Group based in Langkampfen, Austria. STIHL Tirol is a center of excellence for ground-guided garden power tools and a production site for many STIHL cordless products and garden tools. In 2020, the company employed 702 people. “With Dr. Clemens Schaller at the helm, STIHL Tirol has been able to consistently advance along a growth course over the last few years and has achieved records year after year. We would like to thank Mr. Schaller for his fantastic commitment and wish him all the best for his retirement,” said STIHL Executive Board Member Martin Schwarz. And Dr. Clemens Schaller explained: “I am thrilled that as a team we have been able to substantially expand our plant in Langkampfen since 2018. The enormous increase in production has only been possible thanks to the substantial investments we have made and our highly dedicated workforce. The icing on the cake is the in-house production of plastic parts for our assembly lines, which will go into operation in fall 2022. Even though the last two years have been challenging because of the pandemic, supply bottlenecks, and production running at full capacity, I have always enjoyed this role. Thank you to all employees of STIHL Tirol for the successful and committed collaboration.”
Joseph Emmi is set to become the new Managing Director of ZAMA. He will join the company on July 1, 2022, and officially take over its management on January 1, 2023. Joseph Emmi was formerly the Vice President of ContiTech, a wholly owned subsidiary of Continental AG, where he headed up the Anti-Vibration Solutions business area. In this role he divided his time between Hanover (Germany) and Auburn Hill (Michigan, USA). “Mr. Emmi has a wealth of experience in sales and production and has already worked internationally in Europe, the U.S. and in the Asia-Pacific region. In him we have an outstanding successor for Mr. Schubert, and he will continue to develop and advance the successful ZAMA strategy,” said Executive Board Member Martin Schwarz. Joseph Emmi emphasized: “ZAMA’s international alignment and large product portfolio are two major strengths that will also shape the company's competitive position in future. I will do my utmost to rise to the challenges ahead, together with the ZAMA team.”
